The Palacio del Rey Sancho is situated in Valldemossa, in the middle of a valley surrounded by the Sierra de Tramuntana and only 15 km from Palma.
Valldemossa possesses the most important artistic and historical collection of buildings in Mallorca, the Real Cartuja, for many centuries a monastery for the Carthusian monks and residence for illustrious figures such as the persecuted writer Jovellanos, Unamuno, Rubén Darío and F. Chopin amongst others.
The Rey Sancho Palace is found situated in the centre of this complex, one of the most beautiful places one can imagine, and has been honoured with visits from kings, emperors and presidents from all over the world.
From its walls one can enjoy a splendid view of the whole valley and village of Valdemossa, and in its interior the wealth of furniture and paintings on offer make up probably the most prestigious collection on the island; silks on the walls, artisanal ceilings and exquisite furniture. This is similar to what one finds in the rooms of the more important houses of the Mallorquin nobility.
